Swiss Family Hike

Bob has now been to Kanderstag, Switzerland three times. Two years in a row to the Swiss Hike sponsored by a Bible Study ministry for young adults in our area. Our son, Bob, has been very involved with this group. So it was a special privelege for a three of us to go together this year.

Here is our son with two good friends.

One day I hiked to this waterfall. Bob and young Bob took a cable car up another mountain and went several times down the luge (a toboggan type sled on rollers).

Bob and I cooked for a day for the retreat.

Kanderstag, Switzerland: the town

Kanderstag, Switzerland is located about an hour's drive south of Interlaken. It is less crowded but has wonderful slopes and hiking trails.
This is the hotel where we stayed, across from this church.

Bob surprized me by renting a convertible for the weekend. It was wonderful for those mountain roads.
It was a reasonable price, being a chilly fall.

We were treated to some cows coming to town from the mountain one afternoon, led by a little boy.

Kanderstag, Switzerland: the mountains

We took a ski lift from Kanderstag up the mountain and found some hiking trails.

Up the mountain they had a luge. We each tried our hand at the slide.

Kanderstag, Switzerland: to new heights

After we had climbed a couple of hours, we found a chalet offering a light lunch. We enjoyed the breathtaking view with a cup of soup.

Bob hikes in Switzerland

Over the Labor Day weekend Bob went with a group of young men on a hiking trip to Kandersteg, Switzerland. They stayed at the International Scout Center there. The scenery was so impressive, Bob promised himself he'd take me back there soon. They hiked so high they met up with glacier ice.
