Nurburg Castle

This Nurburg Castle towers above the Nurburgring race track. It is easy to drive to find and a couple Euro for entry to explore the ruin.

The tallest tower has perhaps about 250 steps to the top. It has been repaired with railings for a safe climb. The view from the top is wonderful.

The Eifel region has a myriad of Nordic Walk trails and bike trails.

This information was found at the above site.
Nürburg Castle is located on a 678 meters high mountain, south of Adenau (administrative district Ahrweiler). It got its name from the mountain on which it was built. At this time the mountain was called “Mons Nore” (= black mountain). Nürburg Castle belongs to the most powerful medieval castles in Germany. It became well known through the homonymous race track, which goes around the mountain “Mons Nore”.
If the site is still active when you check this post, there is more information on it and details when it is open. The site is actually a great site about the castles and fortresses in the Rhineland Pfalz region.
