Denmark: Copenhagen canals

Think Copenhagen, think canals. It is an old harbor city, with rivers and canal systems running through it. The picturesque Nyhavn Harbor still has old ships and tugs resting there. It was 2 blocks from our hotel.

Soaking up the sun.

There are two canal boat tours. The Netto-Bådene tour is only about $5 per person. The other company is double that. Our skipper smoked a pipe.

The Amalienborg Palace and Square from the canal.

An ornamental bridge.

Christianhaven is across the larger river from the main part of town. It also has canals with a lot of maritime history.

The famous Mermaid was constantly surrounded by tourists. We stopped by briefly on our way to our cruiseship. It was impossible to get close without a wait.

From the cruiseship, a lovely view of the rooftops of Copenhagen.
