Katakolon, Greece: Where the Olympics began

We enjoyed watching the sun come up along the Greek sea shores as our cruise ship went towards the port of Katakolon.

Our son and I decided to wander around the small town that day. We enjoyed the shops. The museum we hoped to see about ancient Greek technology was closed, to our disappointment.

The Greek Islands have lots of painters who sell their lovely works for great prices.

My husband took an excursion to the ancient archaeological site where the original Olympic games began.

Above you see the original running track for the first Olympics.

Finally back to our cruise ship, to pull away for our next adventure.
